Frequently Asked Questions

What age are Calmour Children's Acetaminophen Strips for?

Calmour Children's Acetaminophen Strips are formulated for children ages 2–9. For children under 2 years, consult a doctor before use. For children 10 and older, a children's or junior-strength acetaminophen product with a higher per-dose amount may be more appropriate, ask your pharmacist.

How many strips should I give my child?

Dosing is based on your child's weight, not just age. Use the directions on the box, the table shows how many strips to give based on weight ranges. Do not give more than 5 doses in 24 hours. If your child's weight falls between ranges, use the lower dose.

How is this different from liquid acetaminophen?

Liquid acetaminophen requires measuring with a syringe or cup, can spill, and often has to be refrigerated after opening. Calmour strips come in individual foil packets, each is a pre-measured single dose that needs no water, no measuring, and no refrigeration. Great for travel, school bags, or late-night doses when you don't want to go to the kitchen.

Can I give my child these strips if they won't take liquid medicine?

Yes, that's one of the main reasons parents choose them. The strip dissolves directly on the tongue in about 15 seconds. Many parents report success with children who fight liquid medicine, refuse chewables, or have sensory sensitivities (including children with autism). The strip can also be placed on soft food if needed, though it dissolves fastest on the tongue.

Is acetaminophen the same as Tylenol?

Yes, acetaminophen is the generic name for the active ingredient in Children's Tylenol, as well as many other children's fever reducers. Calmour's strips contain the same 80mg acetaminophen dose as standard children's acetaminophen chewables, just in a dissolving strip format instead.

How does acetaminophen compare to ibuprofen for kids?

Both are commonly used OTC options for children's fever and pain. Acetaminophen (like Calmour strips) is typically the first choice for very young children and it tends to be gentler on the stomach. Ibuprofen lasts longer per dose (6–8 hours vs. 4–6 hours for acetaminophen) but should not be used in children under 6 months or in dehydrated children. When in doubt about which to use, consult your pediatrician.
